How ClassCharts Has Supported A Proactive Behaviour Management System.

Often dealing with behaviour is reactive, a behaviour will be displayed and then we try and de-escalate the situation and provide support. But what could happen if we take a proactive approach to behaviour management to support both students and staff.

Being Proactive
Being proactive in behaviour management means taking preventative measures to promote positive behaviour and prevent negative behaviour from occurring. This approach to behaviour management could have several benefits:

Improves student behaviour.
Enhances relationships.

Implementing a ClassCharts System

ClassCharts is an online platform that has the potential to revolutionize the way teachers and school leaders manage behaviour. It provides a comprehensive behaviour management system that allows leaders to track, monitor and report student behaviour in real-time. In this blog post, we will explore how using ClassCharts has supported behaviour management and how it can help teachers and leaders create a positive learning environment within the school.
One of the main benefits of using ClassCharts is that it allows leaders to easily record and track student behaviour. This means that we can quickly identify students who are struggling with behaviour issues and intervene early to provide the appropriate level of support. The system also provides leaders with a range of data and analytics to help them understand trends in student behaviour, which can inform teaching strategies and form the beginnings of bespoke support packages for students.
Another key feature of ClassCharts is its ability to generate reports and analytics that can be shared with parents, other teachers, and leaders within the school. This helps to keep everyone informed and accountable for student behaviour, and can also help to identify areas where additional support may be needed. ClassCharts gives schools the ability to set up reward systems and positive behaviour reinforcement, which can again be used to reinforce positive behaviour choice from students.
Reporting Behaviour in Real Time
The main feature of ClassCharts which has transformed the way in which our pastoral staff and senior leadership team respond to behaviour incidents is the "live activity feed." This is real time log of all behaviour incidents that are occurring within the school, it has given us the ability to interweave our consequences ad praise systems into ClassCharts for instant behaviour feedback.


Teaching staff will log behaviour incidents during lesson time using their own ClassCharts page, these incidents will then appear on our Pastoral and SLT live feed. The member of staff on radio lead will then direct staff to the relevant classroom where they can then support. Since moving to this new system, the conversion from low level incidents to high tariff incidents has decreased significantly, teachers have a sense of trust in the system and students are explicitly aware of our behavioural expectations. The way in which we have shaped our ClassCharts and behaviour duty system means that SLT and pastoral visibility has increased dramatically, during any one lesson we have up to five members of staff on duty who will consistently drop into lessons, walk the corridors and support with behaviour.
We're three years in to using this system and have now completely moved way from teachers logging behaviour incidents at the end of the lesson or at the end of the day, ClassCharts has now become an embedded feature of our teaching practice and continues to go from strength to strength as a live behaviour management tool.
